A three-way TAD speaker in a cabinet just 254 mm wide. The ME1TX combines a compact CST midrange/tweeter with a dedicated 16 cm woofer for listeners who want focused stereo imaging without a large floorstanding cabinet.

LISTENING & DESIGN

What makes ME1TX distinctive?

The Micro Evolution One TX puts the voice and much of an instrument’s harmonic character through a single concentric assembly. If you enjoy following a singer’s position or separating instruments in a small ensemble, that integration is a useful reason to explore the ME1TX.

A compact CST, with a new tweeter

A 25 mm vapour-deposited beryllium tweeter sits at the centre of a 9 cm magnesium midrange. TAD shapes the surrounding cone to manage the tweeter’s dispersion through the crossover region. The aim is a consistent relationship between the two drivers as notes move across their working ranges.

A separate job for the bass

The 16 cm MACC woofer uses a layered aramid-composite diaphragm. It takes over below the CST assembly, allowing a true three-way layout in a standmount cabinet. TAD specifies a frequency range of 36 Hz to 60 kHz.

Side slots instead of a rear port

Bidirectional ADS slots run behind the side panels and open forwards and backwards. TAD uses this layout to manage airflow and port noise. The braced SILENT enclosure and steel side panels address cabinet vibration, while the ports still need room to breathe.

How it compares

Compared with CE1TX, ME1TX uses a smaller 9 cm CST and 16 cm woofer, in a lighter 21 kg cabinet. CE1TX moves to a 14 cm CST, 18 cm woofer and 29 kg cabinet. Choose around the space available for the complete speaker-and-stand assembly, then compare with familiar recordings.

Amplification, support and placement

Use a separate integrated amplifier or power amplifier suited to a nominal 4 Ω load. Its 85 dB sensitivity is specified at 2.83 V / 1 m, so listening distance and volume matter when selecting amplification.

ST3TX-K and ST3TX-SW are the matching stands, sold separately as pairs. Each stand has a 376 × 437 mm footprint, is 642 mm high without spikes and weighs 16 kg. Allow for that footprint as well as the 21 kg speaker when planning support and placement.

Positioning the pair

Start with the pair placed symmetrically around the listening position and keep both side-port exits clear. Adjust distance from boundaries and toe-in with familiar voices and bass lines; the small cabinet does not remove the room’s influence.

Questions about ME1TX

Does ME1TX include the stands?

No. The matching ST3TX-K and ST3TX-SW stands are separate products. Photographs show them to illustrate the intended standmount setup.

What changes from the original ME1?

ME1TX introduces a vapour-deposited beryllium tweeter and a revised magnesium midrange, alongside driver-basket and woofer refinements. It retains the compact three-way concept and side ADS ports.

Is ME1TX an active speaker?

No. It is a passive loudspeaker and needs external amplification. Tell us your amplifier model and listening distance when discussing a match.
