Reference One TX Limited Edition

TAD R1TXLTD in Santa Maria aquamarine with Aurelia gold accents.
TAD R1TXLTD in Santa Maria aquamarine with Aurelia gold accents.

TAD R1TXLTD gives the Reference One TX a Santa Maria aquamarine finish, Aurelia gold accents and an additional 12 kg aluminium base. Its revised supports make the limited edition a structural refinement as well as a distinctive finish.

LISTENING & DESIGN

What makes R1TXLTD distinctive?

Reference One TX Limited Edition combines the familiar Reference driver layout with a finish designed to reveal the wood grain under changing light. The physical refinements are equally specific: an additional 15 mm, 12 kg base plate and redesigned spikes and holders. It is a model for listeners considering both the system and the object that will occupy the room.

A finish with depth

Santa Maria aquamarine is applied through the cabinet maker’s painting and polishing processes. Aurelia gold highlights the CST trim ring and aluminium base. These names identify this edition’s finish; they are not interchangeable with the BR or EB versions of R1TX.

An additional 15 mm base

TAD adds a 12 kg aluminium plate beneath the SILENT enclosure, with the stated aim of lowering the centre of gravity and increasing stability. It is a tangible construction change. The finished speaker weighs 162 kg, compared with R1TX’s 150 kg.

Reference drivers, revised support

The beryllium CST and twin 25 cm TLCC woofers retain the Reference configuration. Redesigned spikes and matching holders use a combination of materials to manage support and vibration. The changes target the mechanical foundation rather than adding room correction or active electronics.

How it compares

R1TXLTD and R1TX share the 16 cm / 35 mm CST and twin 25 cm woofer sizes. LTD adds the special finish, 15 mm base and revised supports, with a specified height of 1,308 mm and weight of 162 kg. R1TX is 1,293 mm high and 150 kg. The differences are more specific than a new colour name.

Amplification, support and placement

This remains a passive 4 Ω loudspeaker requiring suitable external amplification. Plan amplifier loading and peak-level needs around the listening distance, rather than treating the maximum-input figure as a prescription.

At 162 kg per speaker, access, handling and the final support arrangement need to be agreed before installation. Confirm the supplied support configuration for the Australian pair when discussing the model.

Positioning the pair

Allow space for the cabinet, rear connections and careful position adjustment. Use the model’s own support instructions. The reinforced base addresses the loudspeaker’s mechanical behaviour; wall distance, listening-seat position and room acoustics still affect the sound.

Questions about R1TXLTD

What does LTD change from R1TX?

It adds the Santa Maria aquamarine and Aurelia gold finish treatment, a 15 mm, 12 kg aluminium base, and redesigned spikes and holders. The principal driver sizes remain the same.

Does limited edition mean a pair is available now?

No. The edition name describes the product, not current availability. Ask us about this exact model and finish so that supply and configuration can be confirmed for your enquiry.

Is it also called R1TX LTD or Reference One TX Limited Edition?

Yes. These are common ways of referring to TAD-R1TXLTD. This page covers the distinct limited edition, rather than a standard R1TX in BR or EB finish.
