Design and features
Adjust from the listening position
The Reference Remote controls level, crossover, phase and dual parametric EQ. Listening and measurement help assess changes as the subwoofer is integrated with the speakers and room.
Connections and optional wireless
Airship Direct is sold separately. REL lists a grille, mains lead, Neutrik cable, Reference Remote and batteries with the product. Confirm the Australian supply list and any array hardware in the quotation.

Check the inputs and outputs against the equipment you already use. If you have a connection question, send us the model names or a photograph of the sockets.
Connecting and setting up
- High Level takes a signal from a compatible amplifier’s speaker terminals. Low-level stereo RCA and XLR inputs are also available.
- Dedicated RCA and XLR LFE inputs connect to an AV receiver or processor for film soundtracks.
- Include your amplifier model when enquiring so the correct connection can be checked, particularly for balanced, bridged or Class D outputs.
Points to consider
- The rated extension is a manufacturer in-room specification, not a measured response at your seat. Results depend on the system, placement and room.
- Parametric EQ is a setup tool. It does not diagnose the room automatically or guarantee the removal of every dip or long decay.

A subwoofer provides another way to reproduce the low-frequency part of music and film. Whether it adds useful value depends on your speakers, listening aims, placement and setup. Start with what you want to hear differently, rather than assuming every system needs one.
How should I compare No.35 and No.36?+
No.35 uses a 12-inch driver and 900 W amplifier in a smaller, lighter cabinet. No.36 uses a 15-inch driver and 1,000 W amplifier, with a lower manufacturer-rated extension and a larger cabinet. Compare those differences with your usual level, space and budget. Neither room area nor price alone establishes the right choice.
Do I need a pair or a Reference Line Array?+
The listed price is for one unit. A Line Array is a vertical installation of multiple compatible units, not a standard single-unit purchase. REL describes specific earlier-model combinations for this generation; confirm the exact models, hardware and installation before planning one. Quantity is assessed from the system, aims and practical positions.
How does it connect, and is wireless included?+
High Level connects to the speaker terminals of a compatible amplifier; low-level and LFE inputs provide other connections. Check the amplifier-specific instructions before wiring. Airship Direct is optional and sold separately. Mains power is still required.
What is included in the price, and can I arrange a demonstration?+
A$21,999 is the price for one No.36, including GST. Confirm the chosen configuration, accessories, stock and delivery timing before payment. Any demonstration or installation arrangements require separate confirmation. Pair and array photographs show multiple-unit configurations.
What Australian warranty applies?+
A three-year standard Australian warranty applies under MSN Audio’s REL commercial policy. Confirm the applicable terms with your quotation. This does not limit statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law.
