Using the Palisade DAC
Purpose
- The Digital Director receives your digital sources; the converter provides analogue output and volume control.
- Power is built into the two chassis, so there is no third Powerbase to place on the rack.
Connections
- Four module slots let you choose connections for a transport, computer or network source.
- Balanced XLR outputs can feed a suitable power amplifier, with volume adjusted on the Palisade.

Design and features
Four Hybrid DAC MkII modules
These modules perform conversion for PCM and native DSD. Passive analogue volume control then sets the level sent to the amplifier.
Femto 33 MkIII clock
Palisade uses the same clock platform as Cascade to time the conversion process. It is one of the shared technologies behind the two models.

Connecting and setting up
- Input modules determine the digital connections and supported playback formats.
- Passive volume control keeps the balanced output impedance at 150 Ω as the listening level changes.
Points to consider
- There are no analogue inputs, so a phono stage cannot connect directly to Palisade.
- The two-unit stack is 144 mm high; also leave space for ventilation and rear cables.
- If you want digital and analogue sources to share one volume control, compare Cascade.
