Add scale, extension and foundation while preserving timing and the character of the main loudspeakers. The right model and setup depend on the system and room—not only the nominal low-frequency specification.
Consider output, extension, room volume, listening distance and the demands of LFE playback. Theatre requirements may differ from a music-first system.
Multiple subwoofers can be used for scale, symmetry or improved spatial distribution, but quantity and placement should follow the room and the intended result.
