Is it a fit for your system?
For a two-channel system where you want to keep familiar sources and amplifiers while improving tonal balance and the way the speakers blend with the bass. Amethyst handles everyday source selection and volume as well as room optimisation.
One place for your stereo sources
Analogue and digital inputs, including an MM phono input, bring different sources under one volume control. Room optimisation then applies within the same playback chain.
A smoother handover to your subwoofers
Where speakers and subwoofers overlap, their sound can reinforce or cancel. Adjustable crossover, level and delay help them work together, while Optimizer measures and adjusts their response in the room.

- Speakers and subwoofersAnalogue output → power amp → passive speaker, or a compatible active speaker / active subwoofer
With a digital connection, a compatible DAC or digital-input speaker converts the signal before amplification. Analogue and digital connections are different ways of carrying the processor’s output channels.
Signal-flow illustration. The connections described below show how this model fits between your source and speakers.Digital sources can connect directly to Amethyst. If you keep an existing DAC, its analogue output can feed an Amethyst analogue input. That signal is converted back to digital at 96 kHz for Optimizer processing, then sent to the chosen outputs. This retains the DAC in the system but adds an analogue-to-digital conversion.
Two outputs can feed the left and right power amplifiers or active speakers. The other two can feed active subwoofers, each with its own level, delay and crossover settings. A two-way active stereo system uses all four outputs for the separate frequency bands and needs suitable loudspeakers and separate amplifier channels.
What affects the result
- When direct sound and reflections cancel at a seat, turning up that frequency can make the speakers work harder without filling the dip. Moving a speaker or seat, or adding acoustic treatment, can help address the cause alongside processing.
- Amethyst has four independent processing outputs. Analogue and digital connections offer different ways to carry those four channels. WaveForming is available on the Altitude range; Amethyst uses Optimizer and bass management.

Choose your configuration.
The four outputs can serve different stereo layouts. Each independently controlled speaker, subwoofer or active crossover band uses one output.
| Configuration | What it provides |
|---|---|
| 2.0 stereo | Two main channels, with room optimisation |
| 2.1 stereo | Two main channels plus one subwoofer output |
| 2.2 stereo | Two main channels plus two subwoofer outputs |
| Two-way active / bi-amplification | Four outputs shared across left and right loudspeaker sections |
Finish options
Silver; Black.

Space for installation and measurement.
- Calibration measures the speakers at the seats you use. Leaving access for the microphone and room to adjust subwoofer positions makes it easier to improve the bass where you listen. The rack also needs ventilation and space behind it for cables.

FAQ
Common questions
Can I keep my existing DAC?+
Yes. Connect its analogue output to an Amethyst analogue input. Amethyst then converts the signal to digital at 96 kHz for processing. Alternatively, a compatible digital source can connect directly to Amethyst, avoiding that extra conversion.
How can I use the four outputs?+
A stereo pair uses two outputs. Adding one subwoofer uses a third; two independently controlled subwoofers use all four. For two-way active stereo, each speaker uses two outputs for its separate frequency bands, leaving no separate subwoofer output.
Does Amethyst support WaveForming?+
No. Amethyst provides Optimizer and bass management for stereo speakers and subwoofers. If you want WaveForming to control low-frequency reflections and room modes, choose a compatible Altitude processor and a suitable subwoofer layout.
How long is the warranty?+
The manufacturer warranty is five years.
